Police in New York’s Westchester County allege that a 28-year-old mother killed her 2-year-old daughter Saturday — less than 24 hours after refusing to comply with a court order transferring custody of the child to the girl's father. Cynthia Arce, 28, was arrested Tuesday at the Westchester County Medical Center where she was being treated for a gunshot wound. The Journal News reports Arce slashed two officers who responded to her home in Mamaroneck as they tried to help the injured toddler.
